First off, I hope the league is ready to get snaked in a few days. This is the year we win it! Second, congrats to Mike for hitting 200 for the year. Over the past four weeks Mike has averaged 212.75, which is best on the team. With another awesome week, he could hit 201. Plus, Jeff had his second 600 series and led the team with 22 strikes in week 30. We're looking relatively strong going into our final week.

We also have a race going on for least hangings between Brad and me (we're tied) and a race for who's going to get the most middle pots between everyone except for yours truly.

The last thing I'm going to say is that if you can get hold of any rubber snakes, bring them to bowling Monday. Ask your kids, your neighbors, your co-workers, or any random person you see walking down the street. Or go to a party store and buy one for $1. Either way. We're gonna shed out skin all over this thing!

It's been ugly as of late, but we're still in the roll-off! Hopefully we pull everything together in time. Fat Mike has been just excellent, and he's largely responsible for us every winning any games. Jeff's streak of weeks over average finally came to an end, but that 13-week streak is going to be very hard for anyone to ever beat. Since we are now keeping track of all this stuff, we'll know if it ever happens again. Great work, El Presidente!

Week Twenty-Six

In a rare move, I'm updating after a bad week. Call it me being a good sport or something.

Brad: 217.89 AVG (227.7/210.8/215.1), 6.75 X/GM, 0.81 S/GM, 9 HNG, 1 GB, 17 MP

The BBC and TMC standings remain the same due to the racehorses in question not bowling.

Congrats once again to Jeff for beating his average. Eleven straight, sluts!

Honestly I feel like we all did a good job adjusting last week after a particularly discouraging start. The final numbers weren't where we would like, but all four of us had one miserable game to deal with. We only won two, but that would've been four with any luck at all. On a related note, between the four of us we literally had 20 splits. To put that in perspective, that tied our season high from week nine. Aside from last Monday, we have only had 15 splits as a team six other times across the 25 other weeks. The difference between those weeks and last week is that every other time we did it with all five members present. That means that we averaged a season-worst 1.67 splits per team member game last week. Prior to last week our worst night was 1.33 splits per game. Gross! It would've been nice to catch any sort of break.

Anyway, we have to make sure we don't further our deKline next week. Based on that last sentence, everyone should know who we're bowling. Here's to next week being a great one!

A huge congratulations to The Prez for his new high game! He also had a season-high 17 strikes and exceeded his average for the 10th consecutive week! Wow!

Brad will have a shot to shoot 700 for the third straight week next week against Big Bill Ball. That would be pretty, pretty, pretty good.

We have opened up a multi-week lead in the wild card race, so we're looking pretty good for a roll-off spot. SNAKES!

The third game of Week 25 saw us all strike at least five times, a first for the 2010-2011 Snakes!

Seven points, kids. Good work. In fact, it's a distinct possibility that we'll be 14-0 to start the round if the expansion team fails to bowl out or bowls like shit.

It's time for some fun facts!

Brad and I remain exactly tied in the amount of strikes we've thrown for the entire season. Craziness.

Fat (or Phat, if you prefer) Mike can reach 200 for the year by shooting 692 in each of the next two weeks. Do it!

Brent has had at least one game of 230 or more for four straight weeks. Badass!

This one's my favorite: Jeff has raised his average eight straight weeks. Eight!

Let's keep winning games. We gotta get in the roll-off and pollute the bowling alley with live snakes. For the love of God, though, no one bring any pheromones in there if we do!

Single pin summary, through the 2nd trimester

Single pin summary through the 2nd trimester

Ok, so I tried to include some pretty charts and graphs to give a visual of where we are through Week 20 on our single pin conversions. If you think of anything additional you would like to see, let me know and I'll try and put it together.

First up is our single pin conversion rate by week. I have this data in table format on the link above but the chart shows our week over week conversion rate in visual form. I used the first 12 weeks to create our benchmark conversion rate (mean), shown on the right side of the graph at 76.51%. Under normal statistical guidelines, 8 data points above or below an established mean constitute a process shift. As of Week 20 we have four points below our established mean; four more points below the mean and we have a fucking negative process shift.

I for one am practicing twice this week to cut down on this HORSESHIT! My conversion rate has been shit lately and it shows in my scoring and in the chart above.

Next up is a pareto chart showing the breakout of single pin leaves. A pareto chart plays on the 80/20 rule, meaning you would expect 80% of the failures to come from 20% of the issues. Our single pin chart doesn't necessary adhere directly to this guideline, but you can see that the 10,7,4,6, and 9 pin make up 82% of our single pin leaves. It's obviously no surprise that the 10 is nearing half of all our single pin leaves for the year to date.

Taking that one step further, here is a pareto by single pin misses.

As would be expected, we also miss more 10 pins than any other single pin. We leave the most, we miss the most. But, does it mean percentage wise that is what we miss the most of?

Answer: Fuck yes it does. From a percentage of single pins missed (chart below) we also have the worst conversion rate on the pin we leave the most of, missing almost 30% of our 10 pins on the year, followed closely by the 7 pin at 27%.

In conclusion, while individually we may have single pins with a worse conversion rate than the 10 pin (for me it's the 7 pin), the best plan of attack to collectively increase our scores is to bump up our conversion rate on the 10 pin.

Second conclusion, the 10 can suck my dick in hell.

A few interesting notes will follow this sentence. There is now a three-way tie for the lead in middle pots! (Jeff and I are not even close). Fat Mike has even missed two weeks and the lil' fella is still tied for first. What a beast.

I also noticed that I have knocked down exactly the same amount of pins in my first games as my second games. Weird.

It should also be noted that until Brad's 193 game to lead off week 16, he had gone 18 consecutive games over 200. Only four of those 18 games were even below 210. That's by far a team record. The next closest streak was mine at 10, barely half Brad's streak.

I fully intend to start supplementing some of these posts with statistical tidbits I notice. For a huge numbers dork like me, this is entirely too much fun.

BOWLING!
